Pauline Margaret Namagembe, the runner-up in the race for the woman Member of Parliament for Wakiso district has described the outcome of the process as an insult to the public.

Her comment came after Sarah Bukirwa, the Wakiso district Returning Officer declared Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, the National Resistance Movement party candidate as the winner of the hotly contested race.

Seninde polled 186,975 votes to beat off competition from Namagembe whose total tally stood at 137,150 votes. Democratic Party candidate Allen Sentongo came third with 90,000 votes.

Namagembe however says the result were not a true representation of the will of the people of Wakiso. She accuses the ruling National Resistance Movement party for conniving with the Electoral Commission to take her victory.

Namagembe says her representatives were all kicked out of polling stations at voting time and none of them signed declaration forms. She adds that the delays and postponement of polling time were well coordinated moves by NRM and the Electoral Commission to frustrate voters.
