The national women’s team has this evening qualified for the next round of the Under 20 World Cup qualifier after humiliating visiting South Sudan 13-0 in the return leg played at the Lugogo Stadium.

The team handled by Ibrahim Kaziba qualified on a record 22-0 goal aggregate after winning the first leg 9-0. “The girls played well but the opponents did not give us very tough competition,” said Uganda’s coach.

Hasifa Nassuna netted a hat-trick, while Ritah Kivumbi and Sandra Nabweteme picked a brace each. Naome Nagadya, Dorothy Nakato and Jeninnga Awadifo also scored a goal each.

The visiting side hardly made any attempts at the Ugandan goal and even had Sidona Akwch Adhar quickly rushed in an ambulance for treatment.

“We tried to play good football but the slippery pitch was also a problem. We are a new member in FIFA and slowly by slowly we shall get better,” South Sudan coach Stephen Noah said after the match.

Uganda’s women’s team that has never qualified for any major Championship will now face giants Egypt in the next round.
