Patson Daka scored for the hosts in the 27th minute before substitute Gift Sikaonga made it 2-0 early in the second half at the Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
The Cubs captained by Emmanuel Olinga tried to fight back strongly to get a goal, but the Zambian youngsters stood firm and defended in numbers.
Skipper Andrew Okiring Isiagi who missed the game because of a busy schedule at College in the US is expected to beef the team before the return leg on September 27th. The Cubs need to win 3-0 to qualify for the 2015 Africa U-17 Championship to take place in Niger.
To reach the last hurdle of the qualifiers, Zambia beat 1-0 at home and 5-0 away, while Uganda defeated Rwanda 3-2 away and 4-0 in Kampala.
Head Coach Mathias Lule told URN on phone from Lusaka that although they lost the game, they created several scoring opportunities. Lule said they will work hard to win the game in Kampala during the second leg.
The Winner over both legs in the third round will qualify to next year’s finals to be held in Niger, February 15 to March 1. The two nations have never qualified to the CAF Under-17 Cup.
