Two Missing From Murchison Falls National Park Shooting

Police and locals in Koch-Goma Sub County in Nyowa district are searching for two poachers who went missing on November 18th in Murchison Falls National Game Park. The dou went missing after game rangers in the park opened fire at a group of four poachers. One of the poachers identified as Robert Bodo was hit and rushed to Lacor Hospital where he is recuperating. But for the past one week, the relatives of the other poachers who were with Bodo have searched the park in vain.

They have now been joined by a team from Uganda Wildlife and police. Moses Okello, the Nwoya District Police Commander says that they were joined the search after they were informed of the missing persons. Okello says it is still too early to conclude that the two could have been shot dead by the game rangers. He however says the police will continue with the search till they recover the victims or their bodies.  He identifies the missing people as Patrick Kidega and Francis Ongom, both residents of Koch-goma Sub-county. Walter Odokorot, the Uganda Wildlife Authority Liaison Officer for Para declined to comment about the incident.
