The 93rd Federation of Uganda Football Associations (Fufa) general Ordinary Assembly takes place at the Kabalega Resort Hotel in Masindi today.
There is deployment of UPDF and Police security personeel at the venue as all delegates and officials entering the venue are checked. "We need tight security because this is a high level meeting with FIFA and CAF members also present," said Humphrey Mandu, the Uganda FA deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Court on Friday cleared the Assembly to take place after Proline FC chairman and former Fufa Vice President, Mujib Kasule had his application for an injunction to the function dismissed with costs by Lady Justice Margret Oguli Oumo.
This followed a suit by Kasule in the civil court with intentions to seek a certificate of urgency from court to halt the assembly.
The Assembly is expected to endorse incumbent Moses Magogo for another four years in office since he is the sole candidate. Magogo who took over from Lawrence Mulindwa in 2013 is credited for bringing on board more sponsors to support the sport. It is also in his first term that the Uganda Cranes broke the 38-year old jinx and qualified for the 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
The Djibouti FA president who is also an executive member of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) and member of the FIFA competitions committee, Hassan Souleiman Waberi and honorary chairman of CECAFA and former president of Tanzania Football Federation Leodegar Tenga will also attend the Assembly as observers.
