Fortunately, over 100 senior four students who were also going for the same geography study trip, were not affected as they were in two different buses that were ahead of the ill-fated coaster.

An eye witness and (one of the teachers at the school) who declined to be named since he is not authorised to speak to the media, explained that the Toyota Coaster that was carrying the senior six students, tried to over-take one of the two buses that was carrying the senior four students.

But unfortunately, in the process of overtaking, one of the sugar-cane trucks was coming from the opposite side and in the process, collided.

The witness said the students who were most affected by this tragedy were the ones seated at the front side of the vehicle.

Wits College is located about 21 kilometres on Kampala-Entebbe high way.

Early this morning when URN visited the school, several parents were rushing to the school after receiving the sad news yesterday to check on their children to find out whether they were safe or not.

The students had lit a fire in the school compound to keep vigil.

The accident occurred barely 24 hours after another accident on the same highway, claimed four passengers and left nine others serious injured.
