Officials from The Democratic Alliance over the weekend went to Kenya to meet the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader, Raila Odinga.

According to the The Democratic Alliance Secretariat Director, Bishop Zac Niringiye, the alliance seeks to tap into Kenya's rich experience with alliances by consulting and comparing notes.

"We want to encourage experience, learning and engage with leaders in the region, Kenya in particular has some lessons that TDA can learn from," said Niringiye.

Kenya has had numerous successful alliances including the previous leadership of Mwai Kibaki under the Party for National Unity (PNU), then the Uhuru Kenyatta government which also came to power through the Jubilee Alliance.

In the previous Kenya's election, Kenya witnessed the creation of Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) bringing together former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and FORD Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula.

A source at The Democratic Alliance revealed that on the meeting agenda, was to see how the Alliance can manage both Besigye and Mbabazi's campaigns in the coming 2016 elections and also discuss in general the electoral process in Uganda and the Electoral Commission.

Forum for Democratic Change spokesperson, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda however says there are many other things they look to discuss apart from the failed joint candidate bid.
