Suspended KRUFC Members Accuse Top Rugby Officials of Victimization

The embattled officials of Kampala Rugby Union Football Club- KRUFC have shot back accusing the leadership of Uganda Rugby Union for victimizing them because of their refusal to give them a commission on the sale of the disputed club land. Recently, four officials of Kampala Rugby Union Football Club were suspended by the Uganda Rugby Union for allegedly disposing off the club land without authorization. They are Sam Ahamya, Brothers John Musoke and Henry Musoke and Steven ‘Foxy’ Ojambo.

The Uganda Rugby Union also appointed a four man committee comprising of Don Rukare, the chairman of Uganda Swimming Federation, Moses Mwase, Mike Wandera and Jeroline Akubu to investigate the land transaction. But in a statement issued through their law firm Simon Tendo Kabenge Advocates on Monday, the implicated officials accused the Uganda Rugby Union of victimization. They claim that the officials attempted to fix themselves in the sale of their land and demanded for 100,000 US Dollars as commission.

Tendo contends that his clients out rightly rejected the advances of the officials and went ahead and sold the land to the buyers of their choice. Tendo assures members of the general public and rugby lovers not to be alarmed by the recent statements about the suspension of his clients from their offices. He says that his clients are in the process of taking appropriate court action to firmly deal with the Union and its officials to reverse the illegalities that have brought the game of rugby into disrepute and forever remove them from the archives of public records.

They further state that the said sale of land has indeed seen the purchase of 16 acres of land in Luzira which shall see the development of a sports complex with two state of the art 20,000 seater stadiums, modern gymnasiums, a medical clinic and many other facilities. But when contacted over the statement William Blick, the chairman of the Uganda Rugby Union said they will not be diverted from their mission. He accuses the officials of transferring the union property into their names after changing the membership structure of Kampala Rugby Union Football Club.
