Striker Robert Ssentongo and in-form Farouk Miya will lead the Uganda Cranes attack when they face Tanzania in the first leg of the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
Head Coach Milutin ‘Micho' Sredojevic told URN on Saturday morning that his players are ready for the battle. "We shall not take the hosts for granted because they are wounded after losing their last four games," said Sredojevic.
The Coach said he trusts the attack of Ssentongo and Miya will get the much needed away goals. The Tanzania FA decided to move the game to 8pm to give room to many of the players and fans who are fasting.
The Cranes who qualified for the 2011 and 2014 CHAN events will be skippered by former professional Hassan Wasswa Mawanda who helped SC Villa win the Uganda Cup on Tuesday.
However, Tanzania Coach Marti Nooij has told his players this is a match they much win if they hope to progress. The likes of John Bocco, Aggrey Morris and Simon Msuva, the top scorer in the Tanzania Premier League last season will lead the Taifa Stars.
In their last meeting in the quarter finals of the 2013 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Mombasa, Taifa Stars stopped Uganda Cranes. But the same Cranes team beat Tanzania in Dar es Salaam and Kampala in the 2014 CHAN qualifier.
Rwanda's Hudu Munyemana, Hakizimana Ambroise, Justin Karangwa and Issa Kagabo will be the match officials for the game today, while Cecafa Secretary general Nicholas Musonye is the match commissioner.
