To reach the finals, Mauritius stopped Uganda’s B team 3-1, while the South Africa humbled Uganda A 3-0.
In the final it was Mauritius’ player Alexandre Bongout who started in style with a 21-8, 21-10 triumph over Jaydon Beru, before Johanita Scholtz fought back to level matters 1-1 after stopping Martin Sephora 21-6, 21-6 in the girls singles.
The pair of Khabir Teeluck and Alexandre Bongout from Mauritius later fought back in the mixed doubles to beat Tumi Mabasela and Sean Naome 20-22, 21-12, 21-14. But South Africa’s boy's doubles pair  soon fought back to level matters at 2-2.
South Africa’s girls doubles team of Zani Merur Vander and Jabu Geninda later won it for their team when they beat Martin Sephora and Anjun Rassoolkham 21-11, 21-12.
Action will shift to the individual events starting on Friday. The youngsters will battle in the boys and girls singles, doubles and the mixed doubles.
Simon Mugabi, the Uganda Badminton Association Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of the Africa Zone IV Region said they expect more explosive games in the individual events which will climax on Sunday with the finals.
The event has attracted players from Kenya, Mauritius, Zambia, South Africa and hosts Uganda. Nations like Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, Seychelles, Algeria, Sierra Leone pulled out because of fear of the Ebola virus that has killed people in some parts of West Africa and now DR Congo.
