Soroti Police Accused Of Failing To Investigate Theft of UGX 25 Million

A businesswoman in Soroti Municipality has accused the police for failing to investigate the theft of 25 million shillings and assault.


Hellen Rose Abeso was three weeks ago attacked by a businessman James Olobo alias 'Dubai' in her shop in Soroti town. According to Abeso, during the scuffle, she lost 25 Million Shillings which she had kept inside the shop.

According to Abeso, Olobo and other men pounced on her helplessly accusing her of being a thief.

Abeso says that she reported the case at Soroti Central Police Station under police case number 36/22/10/2018, but three weeks later police is yet to make any arrests.

Abeso further says that attempts to inquire about the progress of the investigations have not yielded any results.

The East Kyoga region police spokesperson, Michael Odongo says that there is no need for alarm since police is still investigating the case.
