Yusuf Qaafow, the captain of the Somali teamwho arrived in Uganda on Monday told URN that, they are aware of the stiff competition in thetournament, but added that they will do their best to lift the Somalian flaghigh.
Patrick Ogwel, the Vice President of theFederation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) said they are happythat some teams have arrived early for the event
Nine teams including Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania,Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Egypt,Somalia and hosts Uganda have confirmed their participation.
Ogwel says their prime target as hosts will beto qualify for the finals and make it to the Afro Basketball and next year'sAll Africa Games in Congo Brazzavile.
Uganda's men's team last won the Zone 5championship in 2004. Egypt and Kenya won the men and women's titlerespectively last year in the Championship held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
