Sodomy Suspect Released On Bail

42-year old Micheal Okotel was given bail by Soroti Chief Magistrate, Baker Rwatooro. Okotel is accused of sodomizing a 17-year old boy.

Soroti Magistrates Court has released a suspected homosexual on bail. Chief Magistrate Baker Rwatooro released the suspect on a non-cash bail, after he produced one surety.
 
Moses Kwapi from Alikodo village, Atutur sub-county in Kumi district stood surety for Okotel.

42-year old Michael Okotel is accused of having canal knowledge with a 17-year old boy. Prosecution alleges that this act is against the order of nature, under section 145 of the Penal Code Act. Okotel denies the charges.
 
Okotel reportedly committed the offense on 4th October, 2015 in Senior Quarters, Western Division in Soroti Municipality. Prosecution alleges that Okotel lured the boy into a room, and used a substance that made the boy unconscious before sodomizing him.
 
State says the victim reported the matter to authorities after regaining his consciousness, leading to Okotel's arrest.
 
The case was first registered at Soroti Central Police Station and Okotel's file was sanctioned by the Resident State Attorney in Soroti after police investigations.

The case has been adjourned to 20th November, when the suspect will appear for mention of the case.
