Uganda National Examination Board-UNEB has no intentions of subjecting senior four candidates to fresh examinations despite the leaking of some papers last week.

The leaked examinations papers included Christian Religious Education, Biology and Chemistry. Dan Nokratch Odongo, the UNEB Executive Secretary, says the data collected so far on the examination leakage doesn't warrant setting other papers.

He says besides not setting fresh exams, UNEB body will not increase or decrease the examination pass marks.

According to Odongo, subjecting all candidates to fresh examinations would be unfair since not of all them were involved in the malpractice.

Odongo says that for now, they are focused on dealing with the perpetrators of the examination leakage and not innocent candidates who were not involved.

Judith Akello, a senior candidate at City High School has welcomed the news. "I have been worried that we shall all re-sit the exams because some people cheated. The thought of going through the exams again was scary," she said.

According to police, 24 teachers, one student, one school bursar and an examination supervisor are being held in connection to the examination leakage.

UNEB says the examination leakage was traced to Iganga district where it is believed an examination scout at Busesa Storage station was paid Shillings 1million by a school director and bursar to surrender the keys to the stores.
