School Director, Teacher Arrested over Defilement of 14-year-old

The director of Kharmac Primary School, Mr John Bwengye and Jasper Lemu the science teacher have been arrested on charges of defilement contrary to Section 129 (1) of the penal code.
 
The 37 and 26 year old respectively are alleged to have each defiled a 14 year old student in primary six.
 
The parents of the defiled girl rushed to Lungujja police station and filed a complaint after receiving information that the two men have been sexually abusing the daughter.
 
According to the statement made by the girl whose identity has been withheld, Bwengye and Lemu tricked her into having sex with them.
 
The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Mr Patrick Onyango said the two men have been arrested as police continues to investigate the occurrence of the alleged incidents.
 
The two suspects have since been taken to Mulago Hospital for medical analysis as well as the girl and the tests are still ongoing.

Kharmac Primary School is located in Lungujja, Rubaga division.

In 2014, the Ministry of Education together with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) released a report indicating that 78% of school going girls are sexually abused at school.
 
The suspects if found guilty by court are liable to a prison sentence of eight years as per the penal code act section 126 (2).
 
Defilement is only a capital offense punishable by death  in cases where the victim has been infected with HIV/Aids virus, is below the age of 14years, is disabled, has been defiled by a relative or the suspect is a serial offender. Such a case is categorised as aggravated defilement.
