The Army General Court Martial has granted bail to two Rwenzururu Kingdom Ministers. They are Noah Nzaghale, the Kingdom Prime Minister and Yoramu Mulema, the chairperson of Rwenzururu war veterans and the chief adviser to the Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere on security matters.
The two were granted bail on Saturday afternoon during the court sitting held at the Kabarole district headquarters located at Kitumba in Fort Portal. Their lawyer Capt Ronald Iduuli presented the bail application papers to the court martial chairman, Major Levi Karuhanga.
Iduuli told Uganda Radio Network that more suspects who are currently detained at Katojo Government Prisons in Fort Portal have applied for bail and their application will be heard in a week’s time.
The two ministers are among the 53 suspects who were last week charged with 12 accounts of murder and five accounts of attempted murder. The court alleges that on July 5 while in Kasese Town and Bigando village, the accused persons are said to have caused the death of 12 persons including a police officer by stabbing them with knives and pangas.
They are also accused of attempting to kill five others in the same areas by using an SMG AK 47 BA361579 gun, the monopoly of defence forces.
