Fort Portal High Court judge announces that he will rule on two Kasese parliamentary election petitions on March 30th.

High Court will deliver its rulings on two Kasese parliamentary election petitions on Monday next week.
Rehema Muhindo of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is contesting her defeat by the incumbent Woman MP for Kasese, Winifred Kiiza.  Muhindo claims that Kiiza collaborated with the police to rig the elections.  She wants the election results nullified and fresh polls held.
Another NRM member, Fred Businge, is also seeking the intervention of the High Court. He says he is unhappy with the results that declared him loser of the Bukonzo East parliamentary race.
Businge accuses the incumbent MP, Yokasi Bihande and the Electoral Commission of tampering with ballot boxes and ballot papers in order to rig the election.
The Kasese Chief Magistrate’s Court initially took on the matter, but on finding that several ballot papers appeared to have been tampered with, referred the case to Fort Portal High Court.
The two election applications were heard last week.  It was expected the presiding judge, Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, would deliver the ruling last Wednesday, but he refused to do so because of the high police deployment around the courtroom.
Now, Justice Byabakama says he is ready to rule on the matter and will deliver his judgment on March 30th.
