Uganda will open their Group E campaign against Tonga on April 7th at the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Rugby competition.

The event which takes place April 7-9 will see the team also battle Jamaica and Germany in the group.  "We have prepare well and we know the hurdle in Hong Kong will not be an easy one," team coach Tolbert  Onyango told URN on Friday.

The Ugandan team got invitations to the Dubai and Cape Town 7s and the Hong Kong event after winning the African title last year.

Onyango, a former Kenyan international explained that after getting exposure at the Dubai and Cape Town events, they are determined to perform better and qualify from the group to the next round.

The team is expected to travel on Sunday so that the players get enough time to recover in Hong Kong before the tournament takes centre stage.

James Odong, Kevin Keremundu and Michael Wokorach are the three players not featuring in Hong Kong having been part of the two editions of the HSBC series.

Apart from the teams in group E, the other teams that will take part include; England, Australia, Samoa, South Korea, South Africa, Canada, Kenya, France, Fiji, New Zealand, Wales, Japan, USA, Argentina, Scotland, Russia, Hong Kong, Chile, Sri Lanka, Namibia, Spain, Papua New Guinea, Uruguay and Guyana
