Thousands of Rotarians from across the world today gathered at Lugogo Indoor Arena for fellowship in respect of Sam Owori, the second African to be elected Rotary International President.

Owori died in Dallas, Texas over a week ago as a result of post -operative complications from a planned surgery on his leg.

His term as Rotary Internationals 108th president was scheduled to begin on 1 July 2018, after the installation at the Annual Rotary Convention in Toronto-Canada.

Owori is credited for an instrumental role in growing the number of clubs in Uganda from nine to 89 over the course of 29 years. He was a member of Rotary since 1978, a commitment spanning close to 40 years.
