The 2015 All Africa Games bronze medalist lost 21-11, 21-14 to Portugal's Pedro Martins. "I tried to play a very tactical game, but Pedro had a better game plan," Ekiring told URN.

In the semi final Ekiring defeated USA's Bjorn Seguin 21-18, 20-22, 21-15 before facing the world's 120th ranked Portuguse player. Although Ekiring lost the final he said he was happy with his performance because he has managed to collect ranking points as he targets qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Ekiring was lucky as his closet rival in Africa Jacob Maliekal (South Africa) did not take part in Morocco because he was denied a visa. Ekiring who is ranked 84th will bag 2010 points and improve on his ranking which will be released on Thursday by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

The Ugandan star will now take part in the Bitburger Open Championship in Germany which starts on Tuesday.
