The Uganda Police through the Economic Crimes Division has frozen accounts of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) as they carry out investigations over alleged financial misappropriation.

Assan Kasingye, the Head of Interpol in Uganda confirmed to URN on phone that this matter has been under investigation and the Economic Crimes Division decided to freeze the FA accounts as they carry out further investigations. "The head of this Division William Kototyo confirmed to me about the development," added Kasingye.

The developments come after a complaint was lodged by a concerned member that the current Uganda FA leadership under Moses Magogo is corrupt and misappropriating finances.

When contacted the FA's Head of Finance Decolas Kizza said he will explain the matter when he arrives at the Soroti Hotel which will host the FUFA Assembly on Sunday. The Federation spokesman Ahmed Hussein referred this reporter to the FA President Moses Magogo who was not picking his calls.

Besides the government support the Uganda FA has also received UGX3.4 billion (US$1,050,000 million) from the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA). However some members have come out to claim this money has not been put to good use.

Mariam Kaliga Nakulima, the only female executive member of the Uganda FA was sacked over a week ago because she questioned how money was being spent in the Federation. Kaliga said on Friday that she has already petitioned the Inspector General of Government (IGG) to investigate the FA.
