Police and the Directorate of Public prosecutions say they are not aware of any charges, or even investigations against presidential aspirant, Amama Mbabazi.

Police says they have not instituted any charges against presidential aspirant, Amama Mbabazi. The police also dismissed allegations by Mbabazi's lawyer, Fred Muwema that Mbabazi is earmarked for arrest.

Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga told URN on phone that Muwema wants to use the name of the police to gather public sympathy for Mbabazi, ahead of his planned nomination on Tuesday.

Fred Muwema, Mbabazi's lawyer, told journalists this afternoon that there were plans by government to arrest their client soon.

Muwema alleged that Mbabazi would be accused of murder, spying on government for an unnamed foreign country and money laundering. Muwema however could not give any facts or evidence to back his claims.

Muwema further said they had written to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mike Chibita, seeking clarification on the alleged charges.

However, the office of the DPP has denied this claims. The Public Relations Officer of the DPP, Jane Okuo Kajuga, told URN that they are not aware of any investigations against Mbabazi, and that there is no file for him to be prosecuted.
