Police Creates Reserve Force Unit

The Police Council has approved the creation of the Reserve Police Unit. The Chief Political Commissar Uganda Police Force, Asan Kasingye, says the unit will be comprised of retired officers who are still capable of serving the force.

 
The officers will compliment territorial Police units in executing their role to provide security and ensure peace in the country.  According to Kasingye, the Police, which is the top policy making organ of the Force, has already passed a policy to guide the operations of the unit.

He says that council also agreed to create a directorate of the Reserve Force at the Police headquarters, which will oversee structures at all management levels down to the Sub County police stations and posts.

 
Kasingye however, says the recalled officers will be supervised directly by the police commanders and In-charges in their respective areas of operations.

Prior to his sacking, outgoing Police Chief, General Kale Kayihura has appointed Ahmed Wafuba the head of the new directorate deputized by Commissioner of Police, Henry Tukahirwa.
