Police Arrests Four Car Robbers

Police is holding four people suspected to be part of a cross border car robbery gang. The suspects are Deo Buyi and Lt Benon Mutabazi of Lungujja, Robert Onyango of Tororo and Zam Kasule, a dealer of used car spare parts in Bwaise. Moses Sakira, the Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations says that police picked up the suspect on a tip off from members of the public. He says that the suspects have been robbing cars from Kenya and sell them in Uganda, Burundi, Congo and Southern Sudan. Sakira says that following the arrest police have recovered five vehicles, two of which had had their chassis numbers altered to fit new registration numbers. The recovered cars include a Land Rover Discover, Toyota Premior and Toyota Corolla, all with Kenyan registration numbers. He says that when Police raided the suspects hide out in Bwaise they were found altering the chassis number of the five cars. Sakira says that police also recovered 17 logo books that were found at the home of Zam Kasule. He says that police have started investigating the origin of the recovered cars.
