King Fisher Project ESIA Public Hearing in Pictures



The Petroleum Authority over the weekend concluded Public Hearings for the Kingfisher Development Project Environmental Social Impact Assessment(ESIA) in Kikube and Hoima districts. CNOOC Uganda Limited  presented its Environmental Social Impact Report  for comments by the residents in the project area, civil society and environmental groups.

It was the second Public Hearings into Environmental Social Impact Assessments in the oil sector. The first hearing into Tielnga Project operated by Total E&P was held last year. CNOOC Uganda Limited, Tullow, Total E&P are planning to develop oil fields in the Albertine basin in Western Uganda.

Each of the partners owns 28. 3% interest in each area while the government of Uganda through Uganda National Oil Company hold 15%. CNOOC Uganda operating the King Fisher Area (KFDA) while Total Operates in the Tilenga area located in Bulisa and Nwoya districts.
