He says splitting Oyam into two shall deliberately boost their administrative roles and cardinal duty to take efficient service delivery to the local people.

With a total of 12 Sub Counties including Loro, Minakulu, Aber, Kamdini and Myene all in Oyam South County, Acaba, Ngai, Iceme, Otwal, Abok, Aleka, and Oyam Town Council, all in Oyam North County, the district was curved from Apac district on July 1st 2006.

It is unclear whether or not the proposal to create Aber District will be approved by cabinet. Amongi says they will continue pushing for the approval of the proposal.

Once approved, Aber will be the latest district to be created in Lango Sub region after Kwania that was created in the last financial year.
