One Dead, 2 Injured in Masaka Road Accident

A  66 year old pedestrian has been  knocked dead and two passengers critically injured after a  speeding bus rammed into a Saloon car.
The deceased has identified as Nalongo Teddy Nalwadda, a resident of Kaddugala in Mukungwe sub county Masaka district.

The yet to identified injured passengers by press time had been were rushed to  Masaka  Referral Hospital while in critical condition.
The accident occurred at 11.30am, on Friday morning at Kaddugala Village, 6kms from Masaka town along Masaka-Kampala Highway, in Mukungwe Sub county, Masaka District.
According to an eyewitness, the speeding Bismarkan bus coach registration number UAL 705L traveling from Kaseese to Kampala rammed into a Saloon car Registration number  UAB 807P.
The bus was trying to overtake when it swerved off the road knocking Nalwadda dead.
James Tibeijuka, the Masaka District Traffic Officer, blames the accident on reckless driving and over speeding by the bus driver. The bus driver Julius Lukwago has been arrested.
Tebeijuka, however, says that they are hunting for the driver of the saloon car who disappeared after the accident.
Meanwhile over 67 passengers  who were travelling in the bus are stranded at Masaka Central police station where the bus had been towed waiting for another driver to take them to Kampala.
The wreck of the salon car has been towed to Masaka Police station as the deceased’s body has been taken to Masaka referral hospital mortuary.
