The National Resistance Movement party treasurer, also Nakaseke Woman MP, Rose Namayanja has been involved in a road accident.

The accident occurred at around midday on Tuesday at Kigogwa in Wakiso, along Kampala-Gulu highway.

The head of media and public relations at the NRM secretariat, Rogers Mulindwa says Namayanja was travelling in her official vehicle, registration number RM 27032 from Kampala to Nakaseke. Reports indicate the car was involved in a head-on collision with a truck. 
It is reported that the truck lost control as it dodged a cyclist on the road.

Namayanja sustained injuries along with three other occupants of the car. These include her mother Catherine Namirembe, the driver Isma Sebunya and her security guard, Richard Kyazze.


Mulindwa says the victims have been admitted at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, but adds that the injuries are not life-threatening.

The Officer in Charge of Matuga police station, Abdu Irumbwe confirms the incident to URN.


He however says that they are still carrying out investigations to establish the actual cause.


The Kasangombe sub-county LC 3 Chairperson, James Makande says they were waiting for Namayanja to perform a ground breaking function for the construction of Bidabuja Health Centre III at Timona village. Reports indicate the ceremony has now been cancelled after the news of Namayanja's accident was received by organizers.
