Nigerian born striker Ibukun Akinfenwa will lead Angola's League champions CD Premeiro De Agosto tomorrow when they face KCCA FC in the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

The two teams will clash at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, Kampala, as they start the campaign in Africa's most lucrative club football competition.

Head coach Dragan Jovic said they are in Uganda to get a win in the first leg before the return leg in Luanda.

Besides the Nigerian, the other foreign players expected to start the game include; Ungenda Beaudrick from D R Congo and Diogo Rosado from Portugal.

But Uganda's League champions have vowed to make good use of home advantage. Geoffrey Sserunkuma, KCCA FC's leading scorer in the Azam Uganda Premier League with 10 goals, says he is hungry to score in the continental tournament.

Fresh from the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Gabon, Sserunkuma said he wants to transfer his good form on the local scene to the international stage. "KCCA FC is a big team that needs to get to the group stage of the Champions League. And we must start now by winning  games in the early stages," added the veteran striker who has played form teams in South Africa during his professional career.

Joseph Ochaya, who was also part of the Uganda Cranes squad at the 2017 Afcon campaign, said after starting with a good 2-0 win over Bidco FC in the second round of the League early this week, they are motivated to get another positive result against the team from Angola. "We are all eager to play well at home and get the result," he added.

On Saturday Vipers SC will also be in action in the 2017 CAF Confederations Cup when they hosts Comoros' Club Volcan De Moroni at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
