Namutumba Residents Kill Two over Theft

The men have been identified as Steven Mudibya (45) and Yoweli Malinzi (30).
 
The men were lynched in two separate incidents in Nabukalu and Bulagazi villages, Magada sub-county.
 
Steven Mudibya was found with a basket full of chicken and three sacks of fresh cassava. He was reportedly transporting the stolen goods to a market.
 
Yoweli Malinzi was identified by several villagers as the person who often waylays them and robs them of their mobile phones and money.
 
Paul Nabeera, the village LC I Chairperson Bulagazi village in Magada Sub County, said that the residents had long complained of the criminal acts of the two men.
 
But Tom Bainhomugisha, the Namutumba district police commander, condemned the mob justice. He said that police was hunting for the ring leaders that instigated the mob to kill the two men.
 
The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to Iganga Hospital for post-mortem.
