By press time, his lawyer and close friends were running around to see that all the court requirements are fulfilled so that Mubiru regains his freedom.

Mubiru was charged with obtaining money by false pretense on Monday this week before being remanded to Luzira prison.

According to the charge sheet, Mr Mubiru is accused of obtaining Shs45.5 million from Ronald Ddanze between October and November 2014, in Kampala by falsely pretending that he was going to sell to him land at Lubowa which he did not.

Mubiru came to public notice after he married musician Stecia Mayanja despite initial opposition to the marriage by Mayanja's mother.

Mayanja has since defended her husband saying that she remains deeply in love with him despite his legal troubles.
