Membership to the council is permanent; meaning one serves till death. However, a member who misses three consecutive meetings without a sound reason is automatically dropped from the council.
Speaking shortly after returning from the conference, Sheikh Shaban Mubaje said Fatwas issued by the International Supreme Council aims at countering controversial Islamic pronouncements issued by unrecognised clerics or groups such as terrorists.
