Following its closed door interface with the Director Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Directorate (CIID), Grace Akullo, the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee decided to interface with Police detectives Moses Kato and George Komurubuga.
The decision to summon detectives George Komurunga and Moses Kato was part of the conclusions of a closed- door meeting the committee held with the Police and the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
The summoning of Komurunga and Moses Kato comes after the head of the Police Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department, Grace Akullo lifting a lid on what may have foiled the prosecution and conviction of suspects in the over one hundred and sixty five billion shillings ghost payments.
Akullo in according to Daily Monitor Newspaper article claimed George Komurunga and Moses Kato may have received bribes in order foil the prosecution of the suspects in the scam.
George Kumurunga and Moses Kato reportedly wrote a separate report to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions regarding the suspects in the scam. They reportedly called for the exoneration of some of the suspects that the Akullo's report had recommended should be prosecuted due to evidence availed then
George Komurunga and Moses Kato have to explain circumstances under which they had to write a report seemingly contradicting the Grace Akulo's finding to the Director Public Prosecutions.
Akullo claimed suspects in the scam alleged they had through George Komurunga and Moses Kato sent her one hundred million shillings to stop their arrest and prosecution.
Akulo claimed that George Komurunga and Moses Kato have since deserted office at the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department. George Komurunga and Moses Kato according to Police Spokesman, Fred Enanga are being investigated for professional misconduct.
The Anti-Corruption Court recently dismissed the charges against the suspects, Christopher Obey , Kiwanuka Kunsa, Jimmy Lwamafa, David Japins Oloka and others after the state failed to prosecute them.
Legal Committee chairman, Steven Tashobya confirmed that a meeting will be convened on Monday to hear from the two detectives.
Tashobya said the committee was concerned about the rate of convictions by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

Uganda Radio Network also learnt that Director of Public Prosecution Chibita told the committee that the second report written by George Komurunga and Moses Kato was casually sent to his chambers.
He reportedly told the committee that he intends to open a fresh prosecution after the pending case against Cairo bank is disposed off.
Former Attorney General Peter Nyombi is also expected to appear before the committee to explain his role in the case at the Civil Court in which Cairo Bank successfully challenged attempts by the DPP to prosecute officials within the bank who are said to have connived with Public Service Ministry officials in the scam.
A member of the legal committee who requested for anonymity revealed that the decision to summon George Komurunga and Moses Kato followed Akullo's submissions about their parallel report to hers and the bribery allegations .
