A mother and her child were discovered this morning lying dead in a restaurant in Masaka's Nyendo trading center. Polly Nassazi, the owner of the Restaurant, discovered the deceased this morning, shortly after she opened her restaurant for the business day. Labiatu Namuddu, the LC 1 female representative for Kitaka zone in Nyendo, says that the deceased were found dead in a room crammed with utensils and a burning charcoal stove. Namuddu does not rule out the possibility that the mother and her 4-year-old child could have died of suffocation. The matter was quickly brought to the attention of the police, who quickly rushed to the restaurant, to find the mother and her child coiled in one of the corners. Noah Serunjogi, the police spokesperson, says police have arrested Polly Nassazi, as part of their investigations. Nassaazi told police that the deceased woman has been working as a waitress at the retsurant. She however feigned ignorance that the woman has been sleeping in the restaurant. Nyendo trading center remains one of the most congested areas in Masaka municipality, with many makeshift buildings.
