More Ballot Papers Arrive Today

The second consignment of ballot papers to be used in the forthcoming general election arrives in the country today, the Electoral Commission has said.

The consignment from the United Arab Emirates contains ballot papers for elections of District Chairpersons, District Directly-elected Councilors and Sub County Women Councilors.  A total of 361 pallets are expected to arrive at Entebbe this afternoon, EC chairman Eng. Badru Kiggundu says.

On Thursday 28th January 2016, the Electoral Commission received a consignment of ballot papers for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, which were printed in South Africa.  A total of 15,987,800 ballot papers were delivered for Presidential Elections.

The national voters' register has 15,277,196 voters, an excess of 710,604 ballots.

The Commission also contracted two more firms, one in the United Kingdom and another in Uganda to print ballots for Sub County Chairpersons, Sub County Directly-elected Councilors and Municipality Mayors, Municipality Councilors and Special Interest Groups Councilors respectively.
