The Ministry of Lands has started investigating the Masaka District Land Board over illegal allocation of cemetery land to businessman Haji Moses Walulya.

This cemetery is located at Bwala hill between Masaka Social Centre and Hill Road Public school. It is a gazetted cemetery for foreign nationals that participated in the Second World War (1939-1945).

The state minister for Lands and Urban Development Rosemary Najjemba says that the investigations will bring to light how the illegal sale occurred.

Najjemba says the district land board could have taken advantage of lack of a law to regulate on the sale of land. She says the current law only regulates district land boards but does not sale of municipality land.

The cemetary falls under Masaka municipality.
