Police Investigates Death of Suspected Poacher

Mbarara Police are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a suspected poacher at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital on Monday this week. The deceased has been identified as Fred Musinguzi, a resident of Koranorya in Kakiika division Mbarara municipality.  
 
Musinguzi succumbed to injuries a few hours after being rushed to the hospital by his relative. Taban Chiriga, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department Mbarara Police Station, says Musinguzi's relatives told health workers that their son had been involved in an accident.
 
 
He however says that the postmortem indicates that Musinguzi succumbed to gunshot wounds. According to Chiriga, Musinguzi had pending cases of robbery and poaching at Mbarara Police Station.

Juliet Asiimwe, a relative to the deceased says initially she was told that Musinguzi was involved in an accident, but later got information from family and friends showing that he was shot while poaching in Lake Mburo national park. Efforts by URN to get a comment from the management of Lake Mburo national park were futile.
