The head of Amama Mbabazi's security team, Christopher Aine has been charged with assault, resisting arrest, obstructing police officers on duty and escaping from safe custody.

Aine was charged before Jinja Grade 1 magistrate, Immaculate Nyamwenge.
 
It is alleged that on 12th September, 2015 at Kazimingi Industrial Park in Jinja Municipality, Christopher Aine with others at large assaulted two Police officers while executing their duties. SP Edgar Nyabongo and ASP James Katushabe are the officers said to have been assaulted.

Aine denied all the charges. and was granted bail. He has been released on a cash bail of 500,000 shillings, while his sureties were given a non-cash bond of five million shillings each.

The sureties included Paul Kibedi - a Councillor at Jinja Central Division, Richie Osinde Oyo - former MP aspirant for Jinja East, Abasi Mugumba - a Jinja businessman and Joseph Atukunda.He is represented by a team of lawyers including Erias Habakurama of
Habakurama and Co. Advocates, Ivan Geoffrey Mangeni of Mangeni and Co. Advocates and David Were.


 He will reappear in court on 1st October, 2015 for mention of the case.
 
Aine was reported missing on Tuesday by the director of communications for Mbabazi campaign, Josephine Mayanja Nkangi. Police however confirmed they had arrested him over incidents during Mbabazi's failed meetings in Jinja in which supporters clashed with police.
