Masaka Court Bails Out Amama Mbabazi Youth

Masaka Grade 1 Magistrates,  Ann Koumuhangi court has released on bail  three  supporters of former Prime Minister, John Patrick Amama Mbabazi.

On Tuesday the Court remanded the young men  after they were arrested for allegedly holding unlawful assembly at Kitaka zone in Nyendo Masaka.

The accused were allegedly putting up campaign posters for 3 Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi. Mbabazi this week announced he will be contesting in next year's Presidential elections.

The prosecution side says  Moses Kasozi 32, Charles Ssebadawo 27, and Charles Higiro 37 all residents of Nyendo in Nyendo /Ssenyange division in Masaka district convened unlawful assembly which the trio denied asking court to grant them bail.

The accused persons presented to court sureties identified as Siraje Luyima, Bony Lubega, and Robert Kizito residents of Masaka town.

Prosecution led by Shibah Byakutaaga  did not object to the bail applications saying the sureties representing the suspects had valid identification documents.  

Ann Komuhangi granting a cash bail of two hundred and fifty thousand shillings  for each of the accused persons and a non-cash fee of  two million shillings for their sureties.

Siraje Luyima also a Masaka Municipality Councilor, representing Nyendo Parish, welcomed the court's decision.

He however raised concern over the bail  fee the  court ordered the accused people to pay.

The magistrate adjourned the matter to 8th July 2015 when  the suspected are expected back in court.  Meanwhile the juveniles bail who is co accused with the trio has also been extended to the same date.
