Masaka Accident Claims Two People

The Officer in charge of Traffic in Masaka, James Tebaijuka says that the motorcyclist and a woman that died in the accident could not be identified because they lacked identification documents. He says that the survivors were rushed to Masaka Referral hospital where they are hospitalized.

Two people were confirmed dead and two others rushed to hospital in critical condition following an accident along Mbarara Kampala highway last night. The tragedy occurred on Tuesday night at the Villa Road Junction along Mbarara-Kampala highway.

An unidentified motorcyclist who was riding a motorcycle registration number UEB 399F was knocked by a speeding Global Bus Registration number UAT 771P that was travelling from Mbarara to Kampala.

According to eye witnesses the motorcyclist who was carrying 3 passengers suddenly crossed from one side of the road to the other.

Tebaijuka further says that police has arrested the bus driver identified as Umar Matovu.

Tebaijuka says that traffic police is going to resume operations to arrest all people that violate road rules and regulations
