M23 rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC have threatened to recapture Goma because of the continued attacks on their positions by government forces. Betrand Bisiimwa, the civilian leader of the M23 rebels accuses government forces of breaching the cease fire agreement signed by both parties.  The rebel threats come a day after the rebel forces clashed with government troops at Muningi town in North Kivu province.

Bisiimwa blames the clashes on government forces, which he says attacked their position. He says that M23 which is also known as the Congolese revolutionary army will not hesitate to retake Goma. Bisiimwa explains that the reasons that forced the rebel forces previously to capture Goma have not yet been addressed. He says their efforts to have their concerns addressed peacefully and find a lasting solution to the conflicts in the country, have been frustrated by the Joseph Kabila government.

Vianney Kazarama, the M23 rebel spokesperson told URN this morning that the attack on their base is an eye opener. He says they would go ahead and prepare themselves for an all out war because they have lost trust in the Kabila government. Kazarama also accuses the government forces of blocking residents in Muja area from accessing water claiming that they sympathize with the rebel force. Congolese government officials have not yet commented on the claims by the rebels as they couldn't be reached by our reporter.
