Hajji Siraji Lyavala Samanya, one of the candidates contesting for the Bugiri Municipality parliamentary seat has narrowly escaped being killed in a motor accident. Lyavala was injured critically when his Toyota Premio vehicle number UAU 190 D was involved in a head-on collusion with a truck number UAQ 799Q in Bugiri town along Jinja Tororo high way on Wednesday night.

 
 
The Bugiri District Police Commander, Jeff Sebuyungo, says the accident around 9:30 pm at Jojos night club. According to Sebuyungo, the vehicles collided when Lyavala attempted to overtake a Boda boda rider on his way from Naluwerere trading center in Bugiri municipality and lost control. Sebuyungo says investigations are underway to establish the exact cause of the accident, adding that they are holding the track driver.

 
Meddie Lyavala, a son to Haji Lyavala, says his father was rushed to Al Shafa hospital in Jinja town but was transferred to Nsambya Hospital in critical condition. According to Meddie, his father was on his way to meet his campaign agents to prepare for today's rally at Naluwere trailer park. Lyavala is running as an independent in Bugiri Municipality MP polls after losing in the NRM primaries.
 
 
Despite his absence from Bugiri, his campaigners led by Amuza Kasolo are proceeding with their door to door campaigns to woo more voters to their side. Lyavala has served previously as the Bugiri LC V Chairperson.
