Oola Peter Nyeko p’Akena has been facing charges of defiling a primary five pupil of Kitgum Public Primary School, who is also a daughter of a tenant at Nyeko’s home in Ayul B. Prosecution alleged that the offense was committed on July 8th 2010.

Delivering his judgment, the chief magistrate Jamson Karemani said prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that it was Oola who defiled the said girl. Karemani said the accused managed to convince court by producing evidence that he was attending a Kitgum High School board meeting at the time he was alleged to have defiled the minor.

Karemani also ruled that the medical examination conducted four days after the alleged act was not conclusive.

The victim and her family members and friends who used to frequent court were, however, conspicuously missing during Thursday’s judgment. Her mother passed away almost five months ago.

The LC3 boss prayed as he left the dock soon after the magistrate declared he was a free man.
