KCCA FC registered a slim 1-0 win over visiting CD Premeiro De Agosto in the first leg preliminary tie of the Total CAF Champions League played at the Philip Omondi Stadium on Friday.

After a goalless first half the Uganda League champions scored in the 48th minute after Geoffrey Sserunkuma headed in a well taken Brian Majwega corner kick.

Sserunkuma who was part of the Uganda Cranes team at the just ended 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Gabon made no mistake from close range giving the CD Premeiro De Agosto goalkeeper Adao Joadquin Cabaca no chance.

The visiting side coached by Bosnia's Dragan Jovic continued to search for goals but lacked the finishing punch. Salomao Troco and Isaac Da Coast all had some scoring chances for the Angola League champions but their shots missed the target.

KCCA FC defender Timothy Awany almost scored in his own net when he headed a back pass  which the goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan was quick to parry away for a corner kick. KCC's Joseph Ochaya and skipper Denis Okot were booked by the Kenyan referee Isreal Mpaima Lemayian.

His counterpart Jovic said he is happy they lost by a small margin away from home. "I am optimistic we can also get a good win in Luanda and qualify for the next round," he added.
