KCCA FC Ready for Kagame Cup Knock Out Stage- Nsimbe

KCCA FC is ready for action in the knock out stage of the on-going 2014 Cecafa Kagame Club Championship in Kigali, Rwanda, the team’s Head Coach George Nsimbe has said.

After stopping hosts APR FC 1-0 on Sunday, KCCA FC topped Group B and will now face Coach Leo Adraa’s Atlabara FC (South Sudan) on Wednesday in the last quarter final match at the Nyamirambo Stadium. Adraa who has been in-charge of the South Sudan team for the last one year is a former Cranes and Scoul FC coach.

Nsimbe told URN in an interview in Kigali that he will not underrate the Atlabara FC team because all teams that get to the knock out stage are strong and pose a tough challenge to opponents.

To reach the knock out stage, the Ugandan League champions KCCA FC beat Gor Mahia FC (Kenya) 2-1, lost 1-0 to Djibouti’s Telecom FC before recovering to stop Atletico FC (Burundi) and APR FC by a similar 1-0 margins.

Defender Richard Kasagga who only joined KCCA FC few days before the tournament from Kiira Young said he is enjoying playing for the team. The Cranes defender who is also a first year student at Makerere University is counting on team work to build an indomitable side.

In-case KCCA FC eliminate the South Sudan champions, they will face the winner between favorites Azam FC (Tanzania) and Sudan league Champions El merriekh FC. Nsimbe’s boys ejected El merriekh in the preliminary round of the 2014 CAF Champions League before falling to Zambia’s Nkana FC at the next stage.

The first quarter final games of the tournament will take place tomorrow with Police FC (Rwanda) facing Burundi’s Atletico FC, before Rwandan side APR FC and Rayon Sport face-off in what promises to be a thriller.

The event will climax on August 24th with the best team bagging UGX 75million, the runner-up UGX 50million and the third placed UGX 25million.
