Business operators in Kamuli town council have repead since the campaigns for the Kamuli LC V chairperson’s by-election started last month. Those who has mostly benefited from the campaigns include guest house operators, restaurants and pump stations amongst others. Henry Ssenyonyi, a bar man at Texas pub along Adams road says that the number of the patrons have shot up since the campaigns started a month ago. He explains that as a result of the high number of patrons they decided to double their stocks.
Ssenyonyi says that they have been sealing at least 20 crates of beer daily. Texas pub is also popular for Nyama choma aka roasted meat. He also says that the guestrooms at the park have been fully booked over the past three weeks by people who came into the district to bolster support for their candidates. At Verosa Guest house along Kitimbo road the management decided to hike the prices of their rooms by 50 percent because of the high demand. Samuel Mwima, the manager of the guest house explains that some of the guests have stayed at the hotel since October 28th. 

He explains that a room of 10,000 shillings now goes Shs 15,000/- while that of 15,000 now costs 20,000 shillings.

Meddy Mbentyo, the spokesman of Salaamu Musumba has pitched camp in Kamuli since October 27th. He explains that getting accommodation become almost impossible when the election time drew nearer.

While other businessmen are cashing in on from the campaigns, Moses Kizige, the Director Pentagon Guest house near Malam Centre has decided to lock out politicians.  Kizige says that he decided not to hire out his rooms to politicians after some people accused him of planning to use the guest house to rig for the NRM candidate.
