Jinja High Court sets Date for Hearing Petition Against Kamuli LC V Chairman Elect

Justice Billy Kanzimula has set three days to hear the petition challenging the election of Ahmed Kawugu Kawooya, Kamuli LC V chairman elect for lack of academic qualification.

Justice Kanzimula says that court will start hearing the petition from May 20 and conclude the case by May 22. Kawugu was dragged to High court in March 2011 by his rival Charles Mutyabule Naluswa for alleged lack of academic qualifications.

In his petition filed through Mukasa Lugalambi Co advocates and solicitors, Mutyabule contends that Kawugu does not have the necessary academic papers to enable him to hold the office of the LC V chairman.

He alleges that both the Ordinary and Advanced level certificates Kawugu used for his nominations are fake. Kawugu is jointly sued with the National Council of Higher Education.

Mutyabule wants the National Council of Higher Education to explain to court why it cleared Kawugu to contest for the LC V seat yet his academic papers are questionable.

Today, Justice Kanzimula ordered both parties to prepare for the hearing of their case starting on May 20.
