The soldiers manhandled Esther Namaganda on Sunday when she allegedly tried to stop Kyaligonza's vehicle from making a U-turn in Seeta in Mukono district. Video footage and pictures of the incident went viral on social media on Sunday drawing a backlash from the public against the soldiers identified as Lance Corporal Peter Bushindiki and Private John Robert Okurut. The army has since locked up the duo for assault.

The Defense Ministry Spokesperson, Brig. Richard Karemire tweeted an apology about the incident, saying the army has commenced in investigations. This afternoon, the speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, said she watched the video on the internet and saw what Namaganda went through while fulfilling her mandate, which is unacceptable.  She asked the IGP to consider promoting Namaganda for sticking to her mandate.
