Heavy Vehicle Parking Irk Authorities in Kasese

Movement of heavy trucks in Kasese municipality is increasingly becoming a menace for the authorities there. Wilson Musabe, the town clerk, says The presence of heavy trucks parked between Kasese central police station and parental care school, along the Kasese-Kilembe highway, have become a menace and source of hardships for the municipality authorities. Heavy trucks have also become a common site at Don petrol station opposite Kasese executive inn near round about, causing traffic snarls especially in the morning and evening rush hours. The town clerk says that the trucks belong to Eric Zirimu, a popular businessman in Kasese. Zirimu however claims that he was granted the permission by Uganda Revenue Authority to park his trucks in the municipality. Zirimu has also allegedly threatened to sue the municipality should they block his trucks from parking in the municipality John Baluku of st Johns ambulance which deals with disaster preparedness say such Lorries in town risk children lives since it is near by the school. However the station engineer UNRA John Kennedy Kasawuli said lack of weighing bridges along high ways is frustrating and failing their work. ###
