Gunmen have shot dead two people and injured another in Kakindo sub-county, Kibaale district, during a robbery.
 
The deceased have been identified as Annet Businge (22) and John Bosco Magezi (16). The injured and owner of the store that was attacked is Joseph Businge, a produce dealer.
 
The three victims are all members of the same family.
 
The incident happened on Thursday night at about 7pm in Kihuna A village.
 
Retelling the ordeal, Joseph explained that he was put at gunpoint by the robbers who demanded for money or kill him. Dissatisfied with the 20, 000 shillings Joseph had on him, they insisted he take them to his house to get more money.
 
However, Businge's wife Annet tried to raise an alarm on seeing the men with Joseph.
 
The gunmen responded by shooting Annet in the back. 16-year-old Magezi then tried to wrestle down one of the gunmen. He ended up being shot in the buttocks by the thieves as they rapidly withdrew from the scene that was attracting attention.
 
The gunmen ran away whiling firing several shots in the air to deter anyone from trying to follow them.
 
Magezi died on his way to Kakindo Health center IV due to extensive loss of blood.
 
Joseph was found hiding in a nearby bush, bleeding. The thugs had beaten him up severely while demanding he give them money. He was rushed to Hoima regional referral hospital for treatment.
 
The area chairman William Musinguzi says that many villagers abandoned their homes for during the attack for fear of their lives.
 
Kibaale district Police commander John Ojokuna Elatu says police has already been deployed in the area to pursue the armed thugs. 
 
The bodies of the deceased are at Kakindo health centre awaiting a post-mortem examination.
 
In early September this year, unknown gunmen stormed Kakindo Police post and made off with an SMG machine gun with 30 rounds of ammunitions. Police has not yet recovered the gun.  Two Police officers in were arrested to help in further investigations.
